MarinHealth embarked on building a new five-story replacement hospital on its existing Greenbrae campus with a vision that included the use of a fully integrated set of information and communication technology (ICT) systems to support the workflows around patient care. A fundamental goal of the project was to have a single unified medical-grade network infrastructure to support the technologies, drive systems integration, and provide flexibility to adapt to future changes in technology.
The owner chose design-build delivery to leverage the strengths of the design team and contractor, manage project costs, and build to an efficient schedule. The project team utilized building information modeling (BIM) for early design coordination. The project also had stringent requirements from California’s Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD).
We provided early design and specifications for more than 14 different ICT systems and the supporting horizontal and vertical infrastructure. Our attention to detail early in the project and high-level of field support to integrate systems allowed the project and installation to flow smoothly. Key to this was coordinating a single set of low-voltage rough-in shop drawings that streamlined installation and schedule.
